Description

This 2-day training provides participants with an over view of OTDR functions and trace concepts to provide training in both fusion and mechanical splicing of either single or multimode fiber optic cables. Inside or outside plant fiber optic cable types are utilized to provide hands-on training with fiber optics enclosures and splice trays. Participants test both mechanical and fusion splices, and are required to achieve a splice loss of less than 0.15 dB for all splices. Prerequisite: Participants must have successfully passed the basic CFOT course within the preceding 12 months or have renewed their FOA membership within that time frame prior to attending this class.The exam is given on the final day of the class.

FOA Instructor – CFOT, CFOI With almost 20 years in the technology industry, Steven has worked on various fiber projects including working as an onsite project manager for Lowe’s fiber to the desktop project. In addition, he was involved with the Arkansas Department of Education as it expanded the fiber optic network for hundreds of school campuses throughout Arkansas. During the same time, Steven managed a network engineering firm established by his father in 1986.
