Description
This 3-day course is designed for anyone interested in becoming a Certified Fiber Optic Technician. Students identify fiber types; recognize various connectors used in fiber installation; and install, terminate, splice, and properly test installed fiber cable to existing standards. Topics also include the history and future of fiber optics, fiber optics capabilities, and basic testing and troubleshooting. The course is recognized by the US Department of Labor, and the CFOT exam is sanctioned by the Fiber Optics Association (FOA.) The exam is given on the final day. This course is a prerequisite course required before taking any of the Advanced Specialist Fiber Optic Training courses. Tuition includes study materials, exam fees, textbook and CD, and a 1-year membership to the FOA. Note: Students must pass both the written and hands-on exams to successfully pass the certification.
