Description

The MCC Mining Safety & Health Institute is a noncredit professional training program focused on helping miners, mining contractors, and industry professionals recognize health and safety hazards, minimize injuries and accidents, and protect themselves in hazardous situations on the worksite. MCC training is compliant with the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) Part 46 certification requirements and is taught by experienced MSHA Certified Instructors.

This 24-hour course satisfies the MSHA training compliance guidelines for new miners or newly hired experienced miner operators or supervisors who work at a mine and engage in mining operations. This course includes 16 hours of MSHA Part 46 Training Plan, as defined by the MSHA Part 46 Code of Federal Regulations. This course includes but is not limited to an overview of surface mining, health hazards in mining, hazard communication, mining machinery and equipment, materials handling and storage, and mining health and safety standards.

Do I need MSHA Part 46 training?

If you work in a surface mine(s) with any of these materials, you must complete MSHA training: Sand, stone, gravel, cement, sandstone, surface clay, marble, colloidal phosphate, granite, kaolin, slate, shale, traprock, feldspar, crushed stone, and limestone.

Danielle Nielsen is a certified MSHA instructor with professional experience in safety compliance in the mining industry and teaching MSHA certification training since 2017. Her professional experience in the mining industry started with Old Castle Materials Group (CRH) with a role focusing on ensuring environmental and organizational safety compliance. Through Danielle’s passion for the field and with years of dedicated service to mining safety, she began teaching through Occupational Safety Consultants (OSC) serving dozens of Iowa companies and professionals. Danielle is a graduate of Iowa State University.
